4 Spots You Need to Stop at During Your Road Trip From Tampa to Gainesville

Oxford Exchange

Don’t be too quick to leave the lovely city of Tampa. After all, there’s plenty of things to do there, and the road trip that awaits you is pretty short. One of our favorite places to visit there is the Oxford Exchange. This store is one of the most unique and elegant you’ll ever see. It has a fabulous bookstore at the entrance, cafes and tea booths in a sumptuous and spacious piazza, home decor corners, and much more. Make sure you snap a picture of the sign at the entrance — it makes for a fun Instagram picture!

Datz

You should get something to eat before you hit the road. Head over to Datz, an iconic gastropub in Tampa, and enjoy their succulent menu. The restaurant has been featured in countless national magazines and shows, and it continues to be a staple for excellent pub food since its creation more than 10 years ago.

Silver Springs

Halfway between Tampa and Gainesville is the lovely town of Silver Springs. It’s the perfect place to take a break in nature. Head over to the Silver Springs State Park and hop on a Glass Bottom Boat Tour! It’s a magical way to explore the water life of Florida without getting wet. Did you know that glass-bottom boats were invented there in the 1870s?

Micanopy

When you’re approaching Gainesville, there’s one more stop you need to make. Micanopy is one of the prettiest little towns in America and is only 20 minutes outside of Gainesville. There, you can feel time slow down as you drive under the oak trees and the Spanish moss. Peruse the many antique stores on Main Street, and even head over to the Mosswood Farm Store for a refreshing iced Chai Latte!
