Everything You Need to Know About the Kanapaha Spring Garden Festival
About the Festival
Every spring, the Kanapaha Botanical Gardens hosts this stunning festival to showcase all things horticulture. As you weave through these Gainesville gardens, admire 150 booths of gorgeous landscape displays and homemade crafts, all for purchase! Expect to go home with bundles of colorful flowers to brighten up your day.
Fun Fact: The Timucua, a Native American tribe, coined the name Kanapaha, meaning palmetto leaves and house.
Not only does the festival map outline the 150 booths for shopping, but you’ll also find an area for the main stage. When you need a break from perusing the park, set up a blanket under the cool shade and relax to local tunes. Later, make sure to catch the live auction, where all proceeds benefit the Frontrunners Chapter of the FNGLA.
There’s also plenty of delicious food onsite, but also be sure to check out our favorite local restaurants like Civilization to complete your evening after the festival comes to a close. And, if you love the treasures you pick up at the booths, make sure to explore some of the best shopping in Gainesville during your stay for even more great finds!

Within the Kapapaha Botanical Gardens, you’ll also find a fun-filled children’s area complete with a bean bag toss, arts and crafts, and a station for learning to plot plants. Each child will get to keep one for themselves! This event is just one of the many things to do in Gainesville with kids.
