Is There One Best Time to Visit Florida?

Winter

Average temperature: 68-70 degrees

Winter is a good time to visit Florida– especially Gainesville if you’re not a fan of the heat. We’re a hot state, but we also have some colder months that are perfect for escaping the crowds. You can go hiking or horseback riding, then do some antique shopping in the beautiful town of Micanopy (20 minutes away from Gainesville).

Spring

Average temperature: 77-88 degrees

Not a fan of cool weather but still want to avoid the humid Florida summers? Spring is your best bet for a successful trip. Gainesville comes back to life with all of the beautiful blooms around town, which makes spring a great time to visit local parks, (including Sweetwater Wetlands Park). This beautiful nature area in the heart of Gainesville offers splendid views of the marsh and a peaceful retreat to soothe your daily stress.

Summer

Average temperature: 70-91 degrees

If you’re brave enough to face the heat, humidity, and afternoon thunderstorms, then you won’t mind summers in Gainesville! It’s even better if you find ways to fight the hot temperatures. Cool down with an elegant wine tasting at Island Grove Winery, check out some local breweries like Magnitude, and enjoy dining at some of our favorite local restaurants

Fall

Average temperature: 60-90 degrees

Fall is the perfect season for festivals. With Halloween around the corner, you can indulge in some serious fall madness and mingle with the locals for a fun afternoon. One of our favorite events is the Lubee Bat Festival. The Lubee Bat Conservancy is a non-profit organization that strives to protect local bats and their environment, and, every fall, they have their highly anticipated fall festival. Expect delicious food, live music, bats, and fun activities.
